Iranian
Cultural
Society of
New
Mexico is a nonprofit organization with no
affiliation or attachment to any special interest religious or
political group. Donations to the society are the mere source of
its income. The membership is voluntary and consists of Iranians
residents of New Mexico who are desiring to support the advancement
of Iranian community cultural activities and abide by the society
bylaws The society's primary purpose is:
- To share with the community the appreciation of Persian culture
through lecture series, seminars, performing arts, musical
recitals, art exhibitions, library, and periodic newsletters.
- To provide and support Farsi and English language instructions
in particular to children.
- To promote, encourage and foster the cultural interests of the
Persian Community by organizing seasonal and traditional events
such as Nowrooz, Mehregan, Yalda, and Chaharshanbeh Soori,
etc.
- To assist needful persons, particularly children, the elderly,
and the victims of natural disasters within and without the state
of New Mexico.
- To defend human and civil rights of the Persian community as a
whole.
- To establish contact with the similar
organizations, social institutions, and news media for the purpose
of increasing understanding between the Persian community and the
American society at large.
