Yalda Night, also known as Shab-e Yalda or Shab-e Chelleh, is an ancient Iranian festival celebrated on the eve of the winter solstice, which falls on December 20th this year. It marks the longest night of the year and the beginning of winter. The festival has its roots in Zoroastrianism and has great cultural significance in Iran and among Iranian communities worldwide. It's a time for families and friends to gather, celebrate, and stay up late into the night. The poetry of Hafez, a revered Persian poet, is often recited, and singing, dancing are common activities during this festive night. We're excited to extend an invitation to celebrate Yalda Night together as a community. We encourage everyone to bring a fruit or dessert that holds personal significance or represents the spirit of Yalda. Pomegranates, watermelons, nuts, and other traditional fruits are especially welcome as they symbolize the hopes for a bountiful and prosperous year ahead. (It's an after-dinner party) Date: Friday Dec. 20th 2024 Time: 7:30 - 11:00 pm Location: Holiday Inn & Suites, 1501 Sunport Pl SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 We look forward to celebrating Yalda Night with you and your families!
